R&D Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our R&D team in the Frying and Snacks Department, for a replacement of maternity leave. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting experiments, support testruns, analyzing data, and providing technical support to the Belgium R&D team. Being responsible for maintaining an operational laboratory with focus on equipment, laboratory consumables, product ingredients will be part of your key responsibilities.

Department: Research and Development (R&D) Frying and Snacks

What you will do:

Non Project work

Responsible for keeping laboratory operation, and continuoulsy optimize the wow, maintaining SOPs, etc.

Maintaining & calibrating laboratory equipment

Safeguarding the stock of laboratory consumables, ingredients and Library materials.

Maintain Raw materials up to date in our Database SPEC PDM

Actively participate weekly plannings meeting

Drive safety and actively look out for safety improvements.

Live according to Paulig leadership principles and promote the common Paulig culture and collaboration within Paulig.

Project work

Aid the Belgium R&D team to deliver on innovation product development in accordance witht the approved portfolio roadmaps to enable the delivery on KPI's for taste, product quality, sustainability, cost and convenience (for consumers and customers). Product categories in scope: Baking, Frying & Snacks.

Provide samples on request to Support the different business functions

Perform Laboratory analyses: salt, moisture, pH, flowability, density, texture, residual oxygen, viscosity, granulometry, damaged starch etc.

Initiate, follow up and report on external Analyses: microbiology, nutritional values, etc.

Actively participate to evaluate (shelf life) samples

Aid R&D colleges with production test runs

O rganize sensory evaluations

What we expect:

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology

- Relevant scientific training

- Eye for detail, team player, analytical mind

- Experience in a laboratory environment

- Experience in setting up sensory tests and keeping the laboratory operational, as well as in preparing product development samples.

- Familiar with setting up analytical experiments, reporting results

- Sensory experience + trained panel member

- Experience in the flour industry

- Experience with product development AND experience in Food Quality
