The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) works to ensure the safety and protection of people and the environment from damage caused by radiation. As a scientific and technical higher federal authority, the BfS is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

The "Information Technology" department offers all BfS employees modern IT services and IT infrastructure. In addition to the administrative workstations, supporting the diverse laboratory and measurement workstations in a scientific environment and the Radiological Situation Center is an exciting and challenging task. The department also advises and supports the use of new technologies. The special requirements of IT security must be taken into account.

Your tasks:

  • You will support the "Information Technology" unit in the "Terminal Equipment and Service Desk" department with various technical and scientific applications and the associated hardware and software components at several BfS locations
  • You plan, integrate and support complex IT-supported laboratory environments
  • You advise and support employees in the effective, secure and economical use of IT resources
  • You take care of the technical analysis and rectification of faults in hardware and software components of the IT infrastructure
  • You support the department management in the creation, testing and maintenance of concepts
  • You create, maintain and check documentation, particularly in connection with technical processes and to solve known problems
  • You are responsible for and maintain site-related data in the CMDB and directory services

Your profile:

  • You have a university degree in computer science (Bachelor's or FH diploma) or in another STEM subject or have equivalent skills and experience in the IT field acquired through relevant work
  • You have good specialist knowledge of the Windows 10 and Linux operating systems
  • You also have very good organizational skills and preferably extensive practical experience in the areas of responsibility described above and are also happy to work hands-on
  • You are a team player with strong social skills
  • You are highly resilient, self-motivated and reliable
  • You are willing to take on a high level of responsibility
  • You have professional written and oral communication skills in the German language
  • We require your willingness to participate in the technical on-call duty and your consent to the extended security check in preventive personnel sabotage protection in accordance with Section 9 (1) No. 3 of the Security Check Act (SÜG)
